Family Feast: Homemade Guacamole with Spicy Beef Sliders
On a weekend afternoon, the sunlight pours through the curtains on the cosy dining table. Families are gathered around the table in anticipation of a special family feast. Today, I’m bringing you a Mexican-inspired spicy beef carpaccio with homemade guacamole, a dish that not only lights up the taste buds, but is also a wonderful time for family bonding.
Ingredients:
Spicy Beef Slices
- Beef (diaphragm) 500g
- Onion 1 pc.
- Colourful peppers of different colours 1pc
- Chilli powder 1 tsp
- Cumin powder 1 tsp
- Garlic powder 1 tsp
- Smoked paprika 1/2 tsp
- Olive oil moderate
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- Lime Juice
**Homemade Guacamole
- 2 ripe avocados
- 1 tomato
- 1/4 onion
- Fresh Cilantro
- Lime Juice
- Salt and black pepper to taste
Directions:
- cut the beef into long thin strips and marinate for 30 minutes in chilli powder, cumin powder, garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, black pepper and lime juice.
- During this time, prepare the guacamole. Core the avocados and scoop out the flesh, puree with a fork, add the chopped tomatoes, onion and cilantro, drizzle in the lime juice, season to taste and mix well, set aside.
- Shred the onion and coloured peppers.
- Preheat a pan and add a good amount of olive oil. Add the marinated beef slices to the pan and stir-fry quickly until browned.
- Add the onions and peppers and continue to stir-fry until softened and fragrant.
- Place the stir-fried beef and vegetables on the hot iron plate so that your family can hear the squeaky sound and feel the warmth and vigour of the food.
Tips:
- Diaphragm beef was chosen because it is textured, tender and juicy, perfect for a quick stir-fry.
- The guacamole is best eaten as it is, for the freshest flavour.
- Don’t overcook the beef, as it may become watery.
Sit down as a family and each person is free to put their own spin on the sliced beef and guacamole by wrapping it in a tortilla and adding sour cream, cheese or fresh vegetables. It’s not just a meal, it’s a feast for the palate and the eyes, a platform for family bonding.
When the aroma of beef and vegetables mixed with the freshness of guacamole and the sweetness of lime filled the air on the steaming hot iron plate, the atmosphere of home reached a climax. The children curiously observed the avocados transform from fruit to sauce, while the adults enjoyed the food and reminisced about the little stories about Mexican culture.
On an afternoon like this, even without elaborate decorations and ornate arrangements, simple ingredients and a little ingenuity can create unlimited joy. Family feast is not only the material satisfaction, but also the communication of the heart, is the common vision of the beauty of life.
As a small family gathering, spicy beef carpaccio with homemade guacamole is a perfect choice. It doesn’t require overly complicated skills, yet it allows everyone to participate in this cooking and savouring process, enjoying the fun and sense of accomplishment of cooking.
Food is the transmission of love and a bridge of culture. Through such a simple family feast, it not only brings families closer together, but also allows different cultures to communicate on the tip of the tongue, making life more colourful because of food.
